Czech Republic Economic Sentiment February 2018

Czech Republic: Economic sentiment improves in February

The economic sentiment indicator, a composite confidence indicator published by the Czech Statistical Office (CSO), inched up in February thanks to improved business confidence. Economic sentiment increased slightly to 99.9 points, just shy of the 100-mark threshold that separates optimism from pessimism, up from 99.5 points in January.

The business confidence sub-indicator increased from 96.9 points in January to 97.5 points in February. More upbeat sentiment in the construction and trade sectors offset a worsening of sentiment in the industry sector.

Consumer confidence, meanwhile, slipped from the prior month’s 112.3 points to 112.0 points in January. The result was mainly driven by a less optimistic view on the economy in the next 12 months.
