Colombia: Consumer confidence improves in February but remains deeply entrenched in negative terrain
The Fedesarrollo consumer confidence index improved in February, coming in at minus 14.6, up from January’s minus 20.8. Thus, the index remained below the 0-point threshold, indicating increased pessimism among consumers.
February’s higher reading was chiefly driven by less pessimism over expectations of economic conditions in the year ahead. Moreover, consumers were less downbeat regarding to personal financial situation compared to a year ago. Lastly, consumers pessimism towards making big-ticket purchases somewhat eased from the previous month.
