Chile: Business confidence steadies in July

Business confidence came in at 37.8 in July, marginally up from June's 37.3. As a result, the index remained entrenched below the 50-point threshold separating pessimism from optimism among businesses.

Looking at the details of July's release, all sectors, with the exception of mining, experienced slight increases in confidence over the previous month and yet remained stuck in pessimistic territory.

Panelists surveyed for this month’s LatinFocus report project fixed investment to decline 10.3% in 2020, which is down 2.3 percentage points from last month’s forecast. For 2021, they project it to grow 5.9%.
