Chile: Business confidence picks up further in September

October 4, 2021

Business confidence rose to 60.7 in September from August's 60.4. September's result marked the strongest sentiment since April 2012. As a result, the index moved further above the 50-point threshold, separating optimism from pessimism among businesses.

September's rise was driven by an improvement in sentiment in the construction sector. Meanwhile, confidence in the industrial sector worsened.

Panelists surveyed for this month’s LatinFocus report project fixed investment to increase 10.5% in 2021, which is up 0.9 percentage points from last month’s forecast. For 2022, they project it to grow 4.0%.
