Chile Business Confidence January 2021

Chile: Business confidence jumps in January

February 3, 2021

Business confidence rose to 54.4 in January from December's 48.0, marking the strongest sentiment since September 2018. Consequently, the index moved above the 50-point threshold, which separates optimism from pessimism among businesses.

January's increase was driven by a broad-based improvement, with sentiment in the commerce, mining and industrial sectors recording increases. On the other hand, sentiment in the construction sector declined.

Panelists surveyed for this month’s LatinFocus report project fixed investment to expand 6.1% in 2021, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. For 2022, they project it to grow 4.4%.
