Chile: Business confidence improves in May

Business confidence rose to 54.9 in May from April's 51.4. As a result, the index moved further above the 50-point threshold, signaling optimism among businesses.

Looking at the details of May's release, confidence in the retail sector turned more upbeat, while sentiment in the industrial and mining sectors also improved. Only the construction sector remained in pessimistic territory.

Panelists surveyed for this month’s LatinFocus report project fixed investment to increase 9.2% in 2021, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. For 2022, they project it to grow 4.7%.
