Bulgaria: Inflation slows in July

In July, consumer prices rose a mild 0.04% over the previous month, which contrasted the 0.90% drop in June and was below the 0.40% increase tallied in July 2010. Despite the slight increase, annual inflation stepped down from 4.8% in June to 4.4% in July. The monthly reading reflected higher prices for recreation and culture (+2.23% month-on-month) as well as for transport (+1.30% mom). Annual average inflation inched up from 4.3% in June to 4.4% in July, the highest level since October 2009. The government expects inflation to average 3.6% this year.
