Bulgaria: Inflation bounces back from seven-month low in January

Consumer prices rose 0.5% from the previous month in January, following a flat reading in December. According to the Statistical Institute, January’s increase largely reflected higher prices for food and recreation and culture.
Inflation edged up from December’s seven-month low of 2.7% to 3.0% in January. As a result, annual average inflation ticked up to 2.9% in January from 2.8% a month earlier.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect inflation to end 2019 at 2.9%, which is unchanged from last month’s estimate. For 2020, panelists see inflation ending the year at 2.7%.
