Brazil: Business confidence rises in June

June 28, 2021

The Getulio Vargas Foundation’s (Fundação Getúlio Vargas) industrial business confidence index rose to 107.6 in June from May's 104.2. As a result, the index moved further above the 100-point threshold, signaling optimism among businesses.

The improvement largely reflected firms' more optimistic views of the present as well as the future economic situation.

Panelists surveyed for this month’s LatinFocus report see fixed investment expanding 11.2% in 2021, which is up 5.6 percentage points from last month’s forecast, and 2.8% in 2022.
