Brazil: Business confidence hits highest reading since December 2021 but remains in negative territory in May
The Getulio Vargas Foundation’s (Fundação Getúlio Vargas) industrial business confidence index came in at 99.7 in May, up from April’s 97.4. May’s result marked the best reading since December 2021. Despite the uptick, the index remained below the 100-point threshold, but indicated less pessimism among businesses.
The rise came on the back of an improvement in firms’ assessments of both the current and the future economic situation.
