Brazil: Business confidence drops as election nears in September
Business sentiment in Brazil weakened in September, with the Getulio Vargas Foundation’s (FGV, Fundaçao Getúlio Vargas) business confidence index falling to 96.1 points from 99.7 points in August. As a result, the index is now further below the 100-point threshold and businesses expect economic conditions to deteriorate.
According to the FGV, the deterioration in September was driven by a more downbeat outlook on both the current and future economic situation.
