Belgium: Industrial production falls in August
October 25, 2016
In August, industrial production fell a seasonally-adjusted 3.5% from the previous month, which contrasted the revised 1.8% registered in July (previously reported: +1.9% month-on-month) and represented an eight-month low. The decrease came despite a strong increase in the mining sector, while production in the energy and manufacturing sectors dropped.
In annual terms, industrial production expanded 5.2% in August, coming in far ahead of the 0.9% rise in July. Meanwhile, annual average growth edged up from 3.2% in July to an over four-year high of 3.4% in August.
