Belarus: Inflation remains high in April

Consumer prices rose 0.74% from the previous month in April, picking up from the 0.69% increase seen in March. The uptick came on the back of a sharper increase in prices for food.

Inflation came in at 8.6% in April, up from March’s 8.5%. Meanwhile, the trend pointed up, with annual average inflation coming in at 6.7% in April (March: 6.4%).

FocusEconomics analysts project inflation to average 7.5% in 2021, which is up 0.7 percentage points from last month’s forecast. In 2022, the panel sees inflation averaging 5.9%.
