Belarus: Industrial output growth slows in February amid an unfavorable base effect

March 19, 2021

Industrial production increased 8.1% in February (January: +8.5% yoy). In cumulative terms, there was a slight loss of momentum in manufacturing output in January–February from January. That said, electricity production picked up.

Meanwhile, annual average industrial production growth rose to 1.2% in February (January: +0.5% yoy). This signals an improving trend in the industrial sector.

FocusEconomics panelists project that industrial production will increase 1.2% in 2021, which is unchanged from last month’s projection. In 2022, industrial output is seen increasing 2.9%.
