Austria: Industrial output grows at a softer pace in March
Industrial production rose 2.4% month-on-month in seasonally-adjusted terms in March (February: +3.5% s.a. mom). The result marked a three-month low as the impact of easing restrictions faded somewhat. Looking at the details of the release, production growth in intermediate and non-durable consumer goods accelerated, while output of durable consumer goods rebounded. However, output growth of energy and capital goods shifted into a lower gear.
On an annual basis, industrial production jumped 12.7% in March, up from February’s 1.7%. Accordingly, the trend improved, with the annual average variation of industrial production coming in at minus 3.7%, up from February’s minus 5.5%.
