Argentina: Industrial output expands at faster pace in December

Industrial output grew 4.9% year-on-year in December, following November’s 4.3% drop and marking marked the strongest increase since February 2018. November’s reading was driven by surging production of automotive and other transport equipment and of metal products.

On a calendar-adjusted monthly basis, industrial output rose 0.9% in December (November: +4.3% mom). Meanwhile, the trend improved, with the annual average variation of industrial production coming in at minus 7.3% in December, up from November's minus 7.5% reading.

Panelists participating in the LatinFocus Consensus Forecast expect that industrial production will expand 6.4% in 2021, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. For 2022, the panel expects industrial output to rise 4.0%.
