Japan: Industrial output growth hits over 30-year high in November

Industrial production expanded 7.0% month-on-month in seasonally-adjusted terms in November, rising sharply from October’s 1.8% increase and marking the best result in at least three decades.

On an annual basis, factory output rose 5.1% in November (October: -4.1% yoy). Accordingly, annual average industrial production growth rose to 5.3% in November (October: +4.4%), signaling an improving trend in the industrial sector.

FocusEconomics panelists see industrial production expanding 3.8% in 2022, which is down 0.1 percentage points over the previous month’s projection, and 2.8% in 2023.
