Uzbekistan - Consumption

Economic activity gathered momentum in the second quarter and seemingly accelerated further in the third quarter. Buoyant construction activity supported growth in Q2, with strong output in the manufacturing, and mining and quarrying sectors further boosting the overall expansion. Turning to January–August, industrial production sustained a robust pace of expansion as manufacturing output kicked into a higher gear, while construction activity remained elevated. In addition, upbeat retail trade in the same period, coupled with sturdy merchandise export growth, suggests that GDP growth picked up in Q3. Meanwhile, in mid-September, the government launched a three-year investor visa program in an effort to attract foreign capital, with a particular focus on the tourism sector.
