Exchange Rate in Uganda
Uganda - Exchange RateGrowth likely decelerated in the second quarter amid softening dynamics both domestically and on the external front. The Central Bank’s composite index for economic activity index slowed to a two-and-a-half-year low in Q2, as a jump in inflation, a weaker shilling and a slight downturn in business sentiment likely weighed on household spending and capital investment. Meanwhile, export growth more than halved in Q2 on cooling global demand and ongoing trade squabbles. Turning to the third quarter, the economic activity index lost more momentum in July, amid faltering export growth and lower business sentiment. Moreover, business sentiment dipped again in August, largely dragged down by easing optimism in the construction sector.
