Inflation in Mozambique

Mozambique Inflation (eop) | Economic News & Forecasts

Mozambique - Inflation (end of period)

Leading data indicates that economic conditions remained weak in Q3, despite showing some signs of improvement, after GDP contracted heavily in Q2 due to the Covid-19 fallout. Economic sentiment climbed from July’s record low in August on the back of the industrial and services sectors. That said, sentiment remained far below its pre-pandemic levels seen earlier in the year. Moreover, although the private sector PMI edged higher in September, activity and demand continued to falter while confidence fell to a near four-year low, as pandemic-related restrictions continued to bite. In other news, the government tabled its draft 2021 budget to Parliament on 29 September, earmarking lower spending while projecting a fiscal deficit of 9.1% of GDP. Meanwhile, on 2 October, the IMF approved a six-month extension of debt service relief to several low-income countries, including Mozambique.
