Exchange Rate in Mongolia
Mongolia - Exchange RateAlthough economic growth has seemingly remained resilient in the third quarter, clouds have started to gather on the horizon. Industrial production rebounded strongly in July following June’s short-lived contraction as mining output surged in the month. However, despite accelerating, export growth remained weak compared to recent readings. Moreover, net domestic credit logged the weakest increase in one year in July, signaling that domestic demand could be faltering against an uncertain economic panorama. Meanwhile, in the political arena, Mongolia and Russia signed a new treaty on 3 September, which noticeably strengthens the political and economic ties between the two countries. In the wake of the agreement, both countries decided to set up a joint investment fund, focusing on infrastructure, mining, energy and agriculture.
