Exchange Rate in Bolivia
Bolivia - Exchange RateAvailable data paints a mixed picture for the economy in the first half of the year, after growth slowed to a near two-year low in the final quarter of 2018. On the one hand, Central Bank policies have helped sustain upbeat credit growth and maintain exchange rate stability, boding well for private-sector activity. On the other hand, a fall in remittances in January–May compared to last year may have weighed on household spending. Moreover, the trade deficit widened substantially in H1 from 2018 on a marked decline in overseas sales of gas and minerals, which account for the lion’s share of total exports, likely dragging on overall growth in the period. Meanwhile, in politics, polls indicate that President Evo Morales is set to win the October general election, extending his mandate to a fourth presidential term and indicating policy continuity ahead.
