Belize - Inflation

The economy rebounded in the third quarter, heralding a quick return to growth after contracting in the second quarter. A strong recovery in the secondary sector drove the turnaround, with the manufacturing and electricity and water generation sub-sectors faring well. The tertiary sector, which accounts for around three-quarters of total economic output, also grew in the quarter, even though tourist arrivals fell. The primary sector, however, continued to struggle, with dry weather likely affecting banana production, while marine exports also suffered. Looking at the fourth quarter, the external sector had a gloomy start, with merchandise exports slumping in October amid subdued global trading conditions.
