Fall in consumer prices deepens in October
Latest reading: Consumer prices declined 0.8% in annual terms in October, following a 0.7% fall in the previous month. Relative to the previous month's figures, price pressures reduced for transportation and communication in October (-2.4% on a year-on-year basis vs -1.9% in September). In contrast, price pressures were higher for recreation and education in October (+0.7% vs +0.4% in September). Finally, the changes in food and beverages and housing and utilities were the same as in the prior month (-0.2% and -0.4% respectively). Meanwhile, core consumer prices were up 0.6% in annual terms in October, following a 0.7% rise in the previous month. Finally, consumer prices were down 0.11% in October in month-on-month terms, following a flat reading in the previous month.
