Consumer prices decline at softer rate in June
Latest reading: Consumer prices decreased 0.4% in annual terms in June, a smaller drop compared to May’s 0.7% year-on-year decrease. Prices for transport fell at a softer rate, while prices for housing and utilities continued to decline at one of the sharpest rates seen in over three years. Moreover, food and non-alcoholic beverages costs rose at a softer pace in June. The annual average variation of consumer prices ticked down to minus 0.2% in June (May: -0.1%). Lastly, consumer prices dropped 0.07% from the previous month in June, largely in line with the 0.12% drop seen in May.
