United States: Consumer confidence records worst reading since February in September
Consumer confidence came in at 109.3 in September, down from August’s 115.2. September’s result marked the weakest sentiment since February. Nevertheless, the index remained above the 100-threshold, separating optimism from pessimism among consumers.
The fall came on the back of a deterioration in consumers’ assessments of the present economic situation. In addition, their views of their future situation weakened.
