Ukraine Inflation September 2016

Ukraine: Inflation eases in September

October 10, 2016

In September, consumer prices rose 1.8% from the previous month, which contrasted August’s 0.3% decrease. August’s result had marked the largest drop in six months. The rise came on the back of higher prices for housing, water, electricity and fuels as well as for alcoholic beverages and tobacco.

Inflation fell from 8.4% in August to 7.9% in September. Annual average inflation continued to ease, falling from 26.9% in August to 23.2%, the lowest result since March 2015.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect inflation to end 2016 at 10.8%, which is down 0.7 percentage points from last month’s forecast. For 2017, the panel sees inflation easing to 8.4%.
