Slovenia: Industrial activity dips in December

February 10, 2021

Industrial output dropped 0.9% in December (November: -0.5% yoy). The downturn largely reflected a deterioration in mining and quarrying and electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply output. However, manufacturing output decreased at a softer pace.

On a seasonally-adjusted monthly basis, industrial output fell 0.7% in December (November: +0.3% mom), the worst result since April. Meanwhile, the trend pointed down, with the annual average variation of industrial production coming in at minus 6.0% in December, down from November's minus 5.9% reading.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial production to rise 5.6% in 2021, which is down 0.2 percentage points from last month’s forecast. For 2022, the panel projects industrial output will rise 5.2%.
