Romania: Growth jumps in Q1
May 29, 2019
Romania’s economy grew 5.0% year-on-year in the first quarter, according to a preliminary estimate released by the Statistical Institute on 15 May. This was up significantly from last year’s fourth quarter (Q4 2018: +4.1% year-on-year) and, notably, overshot analysts’ expectations.
In seasonally-adjusted terms, the economy grew 1.3% quarter-on-quarter (Q4 2018: +1.0% quarter-on-quarter s.a.).
Comprehensive first-quarter national accounts will be released at the end of June.
