Poland: Economic sentiment falls in May
Economic sentiment came in at 101.7 in May, down from April’s 103.2. As a result, the index remained above the long-term average of 100, pointing to a positive near-term outlook for the economy.
The headline print reflected deteriorating sentiment in the industrial sector and weaker sentiment in the construction sector. Moreover, sentiment in the retail sector worsened in the surveyed month. That said, confidence in the services sector and consumer confidence strengthened in May.
Referring to indicators that are not used to calculate the index, employment expectations deteriorated, while the economic uncertainty index fell in May.
