Netherlands: Inflation eases in April from the prior month
Latest reading: Harmonized consumer prices increased 2.5% in annual terms in April, following a 2.6% increase in the prior month.
Relative to the previous month’s data, there were milder price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages (+1.3% on a year-on-year basis vs +2.0% in March), housing and utilities (+2.1% vs +2.5% in March), recreation (+1.2% vs +1.6% in March) and restaurants and hotels (+4.1% vs +5.2% in March). In contrast, price pressures were higher for transportation in April (+6.9% vs +5.1% in March).
Meanwhile, consumer prices rose 2.8% in annual terms in April, following a 2.7% rise in the previous month.
Finally, harmonized consumer prices increased 1.67% in April on a month-on-month basis, following a 0.83% rise in the prior month.
