Kenya: Inflation falls to two-year low in March
Inflation came in at 5.7% in March, down from February’s 6.3%. March’s reading represented the weakest inflation rate since March 2022. Looking at the details of the release, the moderation was broad-based, with prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages, housing and utilities, and transportation cooling in March.
Accordingly, the trend pointed down, with annual average inflation falling to an 18-month low of 7.0% in March (February: 7.3%).
Lastly, consumer prices rose 0.23% from the previous month in March, accelerating from the 0.14% rise recorded in February.
