Guatemala: Inflation falls to over two-year low in March
Inflation inched down to 3.2% in March, following February’s 3.3%. March’s result represented the weakest inflation rate since February 2022. Looking at the details of the release, prices for food and alcoholic beverages, as well as clothing and footwear, increased at a more moderate rate in March. That said, prices for housing, electricity, water and fuels rose at a stronger clip.
As a result, the trend pointed down, with annual average inflation coming in at 4.7% in March (February: 5.2%).
Finally, consumer prices rose 0.31% from the previous month in March, accelerating from February’s 0.14% increase. March’s figure was the highest reading since October 2023.
