Costa Rica: Consumer prices drop at a steeper rate in March
Consumer prices fell 1.2% in March, following February’s 1.1% decrease. Looking at the details of the release, prices for transportation fell at a quicker pace, and housing prices increased at a softer rate. Meanwhile, prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages fell at a slower pace in March.
Accordingly, the trend pointed down, with the annual average variation of consumer prices coming in at minus 1.2% in March (February: -0.8%).
Finally, consumer prices dropped 0.28% over the previous month in March, a sharper drop than February’s 0.11% drop. March’s result marked the sharpest fall in prices since April 2023.
