November 13, 2019

Consumer prices jumped 0.8% from the previous month in October, contrasting September’s 0.3% drop. Inflation inched up to 2.4% from September’s 2.3%, which had marked the lowest reading since April 2018. Lastly, annual average inflation inched down from September’s 3.1% to 3.0%.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect inflation to average 2.7% in 2020, which is up 0.1 percentage points from last month’s estimate. For 2021, panelists see inflation averaging 2.8%.
