Brazil: Current account posts surplus in April
In April, Brazil’s current account logged a surplus of USD 5.7 billion, contrasting the deficit of USD 4.0 billion posted in March 2021 (April 2020: USD 0.2 billion surplus). April’s result largely came on the back of a sizable goods surplus, which was partially offset by deficits in services and primary income.
Accordingly, the 12-month sum of the current balance narrowed to a USD 12.4 billion deficit (approximately 0.9% of GDP) from the USD 17.9 billion shortfall recorded in March.
