GDP in Bosnia and Herzegovina
Bosnia and Herzegovina - GDPStrength in the agricultural and mining sector as well as distribution of electricity and gas are providing strong growth momentum to the economy of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH). The latest batch of indicators is positive and shows that tourist arrivals expanded notably in 2016 and exports increased at a double-digit rate in January. Nevertheless, bickering within the highly-fragmented government is becoming a concern. The IMF threatened to terminate the over EUR 550 million loan program it agreed last year with the country if the two ethnic entities of the government fail to reach an agreement on implementing reforms by the end of March. If talks on areas such as consolidating public spending and levying new excise taxes fail to materialize, the country could be deprived of funds vital to improve public finances and provide stability.
