Armenia - GDPThe Armenian economy is expected to have grown just 0.2% in 2016 according to a preliminary estimate released by the National Statistical Service in February. Contractions in the agricultural and construction sectors were the main drags on growth, offsetting a solid expansion in manufacturing. The economy started off the year on a more positive note. Monthly data for January point to a healthy and well balanced economic expansion underway in Q1. The statistical institute’s headline economic activity indicator was up 6.5% year-on-year in January, supported by robust growth in industrial output, retail trade and the services sector. The external sector was also very dynamic, with both exports and imports growing at lightning speed.
