GDP in Tajikistan
Tajikistan - GDPAnnual GDP growth accelerated to a seven-year high in 2019, as soaring output in both the manufacturing and mining sub-sectors propelled industrial activity. Moreover, agricultural production rose at a solid rate; domestic trade and services activity increased robustly, driven by wholesale and retail trade growth; while exports rebounded last year, further cementing the upturn. Turning to 2020, momentum likely softened somewhat at the outset of the year: The global coronavirus outbreak bodes ill for the country’s external sector due to a downturn in global commodity prices and compromised regional trade flows. In politics, President Rakhmon's ruling People's Democratic Party won an overwhelming majority in 1 March parliamentary elections. This was widely anticipated and is not expected to have notable changes on economic policies ahead.
