Exports in Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka - Exports
GDP rebounded in Q4 as household spending returned to robust growth, driving the overall improvement in domestic demand, despite fixed investment contracting and government spending growth slowing. Turning to 2022, the country is undergoing its worst financial crisis in over 70 years, as paper-thin reserves amid unsustainable debt levels, elevated inflationary pressures and a still-fragile tourism sector led the country to suspend its foreign debt repayments in April. Indeed, both the manufacturing and services PMIs dipped to the lowest levels in several months in March. In other news, the IMF concluded its article IV mission in late March, highlighting the country’s sovereign debt and balance of payments crises. The Fund recommended fiscal reforms, tighter monetary policy, a market-determined flexible exchange rate and a strategy to restore debt sustainability.Sri Lanka - Exports Data
