Exchange Rate in Montenegro
Montenegro - Exchange RateThe economy likely remained in a difficult position in the second quarter. Industrial production nosedived in the period, after expanding solidly in the first quarter. Meanwhile, the unemployment rate ticked up on average in April–June and real wages contracted slightly. Despite this, retail sales swung to an overall expansion in Q2 from a contraction in Q1, with growth skyrocketing in June, as the easing of restrictions seemingly supported household consumption towards the end of the quarter. Moreover, softer movement restrictions at home and abroad boosted the tourism sector, with arrivals and overnight stays jumping in the quarter as a whole. Turning to Q3, inflationary pressures continued to build in July, likely weighing on consumer spending, while merchandise export growth eased notably in the same month.
