GDP in Kyrgyzstan
Kyrgyzstan - GDPPreliminary data shows the economy lost speed in August as enterprises dealt with disruptions to operations at the Kumtor gold mine, leading to slower overall output expansion. In the January–August period, GDP grew 6.0%, down from 6.9% in the January–July period. Manufacturing production rose at a notably reduced, albeit still healthy pace, while growth in the mining and electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply sectors decelerated less sharply. Brightening growth prospects, on 12 September the government signed a dispute settlement agreement with Canadian gold mining giant Centerra Gold Inc., owner of the Kumtor mine, following a long disagreement over environmental safety.
