GDP in Honduras
Honduras - GDP (billions of U.S. Dollars)Economic growth is expected to have picked up notable steam in the second quarter, albeit partly due to a favorable base effect. In June, economic activity growth was particularly strong in the hotels and restaurants sector amid the gradual relaxation of lockdown rules. Activity in the manufacturing; transport and storage; and retail sectors was also healthy. Similarly, growth in merchandise exports and imports remained high in June despite easing somewhat from May. Private-sector credit growth, meanwhile, reversed its downward trend, expanding at a slightly quicker pace in May–June compared to April. Turning to Q3, authorities have repeatedly extended Covid-19 restrictions in a bid to tame virus cases, which has likely weighed somewhat on activity.
