GDP in Haiti
Haiti - GDPThe economic landscape remains bleak, soured by currency volatility, rampant inflation and public unrest over alleged government corruption, which will likely further worsen in the coming weeks. On 31 May, the court of auditors released its second report on the Petrocaribe scandal, which directly accuses President Jovenel Moise of taking part in the embezzlement scheme. The instability has particularly hit the tourism sector as it has prompted Western embassies to issue travel advisories. Meanwhile, the government is now reportedly unable to pay debts owed for fuel imports, critically threatening energy supply and economic prospects. On a more positive note, the Central Bank recently announced measures to support the currency.
