GDP in Cambodia
Cambodia - GDPThe economy is performing well: Garment exports likely continued their strong performance in Q3, and rice exports were up significantly in the first nine months of the year compared to the same period in 2016. The Central Bank is also expected to open up trade financing services to foreign banks through joint ventures with local banks, unable to fulfill domestic needs. Cambodia is, however, experiencing political turbulence. The government is cracking down on opposition and aims to dissolve the main opposition party, which would enable Prime Minister Hun Sen to extend his 32-year run. The EU and the U.S. have been highly critical of these actions, which could endanger Cambodia’s export-driven growth model.
