GDP in Cambodia
Cambodia - GDPThe economy is likely growing at a brisk pace so far this year, amid strong inward investment and tourist inflows. In April, passenger numbers at Cambodian airports rose by slightly over 20% year-on-year, while tourist arrivals surged in Q1. This comes after growth reached a multi-year high in 2018, supported by strong garment exports, tourism and FDI. On the political front, both the EU and U.S. sent trade delegations to Cambodia in early June. The EU’s visit was part of a procedure which could remove preferential market access for Cambodian exports. Moreover, it is possible that the U.S. delegation was also in Cambodia to study the withdrawal of its preferential trading scheme. The removal of preferential access to either market could significantly hamper the external sector.
