GDP in Belize
Belize - GDPThe economy logged a second consecutive quarterly expansion in Q2, firmly putting an end to the technical recession that had plagued the country through 2016. GDP expanded 1.1% in annual terms in the second quarter, a deceleration from the 2.1% increase recorded in the first quarter but still a relatively solid expansion. The primary sector performed robustly throughout the quarter as production picked up in most categories, with sugarcane, cattle and citrus growing the most. The secondary sector’s performance was less strong, as oil output recorded yet another double-digit annual decrease in the quarter.
