Interest Rate in Azerbaijan
Azerbaijan - Interest RateGrowth lost steam in the second quarter, following a healthy oil sector-driven expansion at the outset of the year. Faltering crude production weighed on overall industrial output growth in the quarter, largely offsetting gains from a surge in natural gas production. Moreover, lower crude shipments dented the external sector’s performance, bringing merchandise export growth to a near standstill in H1. This, in turn, seemingly resulted in crumbling oil export income and likely dragged on government revenue in the quarter. On a more positive note, non-oil sector activity remained healthy in Q2. Retail sales accelerated a notch, amid a more accommodative monetary policy environment, which points to robust consumer demand. On top of that, agricultural output and industrial production excluding oil and gas rose considerably in Q2.
