Armenia - Public Debt

The growth momentum in H1 appears to have carried over into H2, with the economic activity indicator posting another solid expansion in August. Trade also picked up in August as the agricultural sector benefits from a Russian food embargo on EU imports that is increasing demand for Armenian products. On the domestic front, high remittance growth in Q3 is translating into solid private consumption. The government recently approved the 2018 budget, which includes provisions for increased spending on investment and it also upgraded its economic growth forecasts for 2017 and 2018 due to robust growth in H1.
