Armenia - Consumption

The economy seems to have continued growing solidly in the third quarter, albeit at a more moderate pace compared to the first half of the year which was driven by vigorous household consumption. In August, although economic activity eased somewhat amid slower construction and services activity, industrial output quickened for the third successive month, growing at the fastest rate in over two years. In addition, merchandise export growth remained buoyant in July and August despite a weak external environment. In other news, on 2 October, Parliament voted to increase the monthly minimum wage from AMD 55,000 to AMD 68,000 to better adjust it to the cost of living, boding well for household spending ahead.
