Interest Rate in Albania
Albania - Interest RateThe economy lost a step in the opening quarter of this year as growth slowed to a near four-year low. This reflected softer domestic demand as household expenditure eased, despite inflation edging down, while fixed investment moderated. Data for the second quarter, meanwhile, suggests a pick-up in growth from Q1’s lull. Tourist arrivals in Q2 jumped from the first quarter, boding well for exports of goods and services. That being said, the external sector likely limited the second-quarter’s economic expansion, as imports outpaced exports. This partly reflected still-anemic power generation dragging on exports—further underlined by robust energy imports—and a recovery in the construction sector as evidenced by rising construction material imports.
